2017 Berlin

Nothing about us without us - making it work!

Time:       13th June, 15.15 – 16.45
Venue:     Besucherzentrum 1

Description:

The seminar focuses on sharing good practises on youth involvement and empowerment at local and regional level in the BSR, and on discussing different approaches to active youth involvement in each of the ten countries. By sharing and discussing what functions well and what not and which elements other regions and countries can pick up - we want to come to concrete recommendations for better youth involvement at local and regional level as well as macro-regional level for the future. The seminar relates to the governance of the EUSBSR - to ownership, involvement and communication of the strategy to the young people of the BSR. The topic is in line with the work of PA Education, HA Neighbours and HA Capacity.

Speakers, panelists, moderator:

There will be three interventions on good practises with regard to youth inclusion in political processes. Speakers will be:

  • Mr. Roger Ryberg, Chairman of BSSSC
  • Ms. Akko Karlsson, President of ERB
  • Ms. Marie Louise Rönnmark, Vice-President of UBC

An expert panel of six youth representatives from the BSSSC and ERB youth networks and UBC Youthful Cities Commission will comment and challenge the speakers. Followed by a moderated discussion involving the seminar participants as well as the youth panel (40 min). The seminar will be rounded up by a statement from one of the youth representatives.

The seminar will be moderated by Mr. Ole Martin Gjestad

A message from the seminar will be: Hey, listen! The youth of the BSR have real opinions and want to share their approaches and models for more and better involvement in the discussions. It's all about communication!

Elaboration:

The political seminar is a direct follow up from the seminar in Stockholm in November 2016 - as well as the statement from the seminar "Nothing about us without us!" It will include youth and regional/local representatives from EU-member states and Neighbouring countries Norway and Russia.

Expected outcome: Moving forward to identify ways to include young people more in policy making - to listen to and make use of their input and ideas. Find suitable tools and ways of communication to make this happen. Following up the point 1 and 4 in the statement from the Stockholm seminar on 8 November 2016

WE, THE YOUTH OF THE BSR, WANT FOR THE REGION TOWARDS 2030:
