Description

The relevance of cultural heritage as a perspective of the past creating a vision for the future is underlined by 2018 being the European Year of Cultural Heritage (ECHY).

Preserving and presenting the Baltic Sea Region’s cultural heritage, strengthening the cultural identity of the region and creating an efficient framework for Baltic Sea Region cultural cooperation are the objectives within the EUSBSR that this seminar will aim to meet.

New digital technologies – in particular Virtual Reality – open up new possibilities for creating a deeper and better understanding of cultural heritage.

The seminar will discuss and reflect on the importance of cultural heritage linked to Virtual Reality, focusing on real ‘added value’.

 

Main questions to be discussed:

What real chances does technology bring? How can we avoid technique for the sake of technique?

What good practices should be shared?

Up to three project examples will be chosen and presented in order to show how VR can fulfil this role. The projects will also serve as food for thought for the discussion.
