Elaboration:
The concept of the blue bioeconomy has been discussed intensively over recent years as offering opportunities for innovation and growth as well as contributions to solving grand societal challenges. It refers to economic activities that are based on the sustainable use of living aquatic resources and their conversion into a wide variety of products and services such as food, feed, bio-based products and bioenergy.
Taking offset in concrete blue bioeconomy showcases from different parts of the Baltic Sea Region, this seminar will explore how transnational collaboration between different actors can best support business development in this field. It will include the perspectives of regions, academia and private actors. The exchange of knowledge on concrete business development examples will spark ideas for new initiatives. The panellists will also reflect on the European Commission’s Implementation Strategy for the Sustainable Blue Growth Agenda for the Baltic Sea Region, which will be launched and presented during the 8th Strategy Forum.
