Macro-regional strategies (MRS) are new international platforms that bring together cooperation and investment. They build upon existing initiatives such as the European Spatial Planning Perspective, Interreg, and numerous regional international initiatives.

This workshop intends to highlight the contributions of cities and regions to MRS and also to identify the benefits that cooperation brings to them. It addresses the following questions: - What are the advantages and benefits for cities and regions of participating in MRS? - Which macro-regional networks of cities and regions have been created in this context and how have existing networks contributed to this? - Which projects demonstrate the importance of urban and regional cooperation? - How can cities and regions build sustainable regional partnerships?
