EU MRS Week uutinen

The EU Macro-Regional Strategies Week is organised by the European Commission, Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy on 7-11 March 2022. The event brings together the stakeholders of the four macro-regional strategies, EUSBSR, EUSDR, EUSAIR and EUSALP, in order to help improve the public understanding of the added value of the macro-regional strategies, facilitate the exchange of knowledge and best practices, and improve the understanding of the broad impact of Cohesion Policy on the Commission priorities, such as the EU Green Deal.

This year the event focuses on Youth, the European Green Deal and Social Change, and follows the motto Engage, Empower, Evolve. The aim of the event is to Engage stakeholders from across the four EU macro-regional strategies and the EU institutions, to Empower them to take charge of the opportunities offered by the macro-regional strategies in order to Evolve their macro-regions towards a smart and sustainable future in the 2021-2027 programming period. Special attention will also be paid to how the macro-regional strategies empower the youth to be active in furthering positive change, as well as to how the EU policies provide opportunities for including the youth.

The programme of the third EU Macro-Regional Strategies Week includes panel discussions on how the youth can further development, how macro-regional strategies can enable the implementation of the European Green Deal, and the role of macro-regional strategies in facing socio-economic and environmental challenges, as well as a keynote speech by Elisa Ferreira, Commissioner for Cohesion and Reforms. In addition, there are several stakeholder sessions addressing the theme of the event from various perspectives. The last day is dedicated to the High-Level Group meeting and the meeting of the Presidencies of the four EU macro-regional strategies and Trio.

All sessions will be open for online participation, with the exception of the meeting of the Presidencies and Trio, which is a closed event. The High-Level Group meeting is open for non-active members in a purely listening mode.
