Highlights

On May 20 2021, EUSBSR Policy Areas 'Ship', 'Safe', 'Energy' and 'Transport' showed a great example of the power of joint effort by organizing a webinar "Alternative Fuels: Impacts on Maritime Safety and the Environment in the Baltic Sea Region".
In 2017, the EUSBSR flagship project ECOPRODIGI embarked on its three-year journey to find solutions for cleaner shipping in the Baltic Sea region. During the implementation, it became clear that there was still more to explore. This need for further exploration resulted in a continuation project EXOPRODIGI which was kicked of right after ECOPRODIGI finished.
The 4th Baltic Maritime Spatial Planning Forum will take place on 1 – 2 June 2021, online and will be broadcasted from Latvia. The Forum is organised by two Interreg BSR projects Capacity4MSP, a flagship of the EUSBSR, and Land-Sea-Act. Forum serves as a final conference for both projects.

Boost to the blue bioeconomy

The Better Off Blue online event series is a collaborative effort between three Interreg Baltic Sea Region projects (GRASS, Alliance+ and Blue Platform), spearheaded by the SUBMARINER Network for Blue Growth.
Clean Shipping Project Platform (CSHIPP) was established to improve cross-sectoral collaboration and the utilisation of results and findings from several individual projects and organisations on a wider scale. As CSHIPP collaboration is now coming to an end, it’s time to look back and reflect a little bit on what has been achieved.
EUSBSR Flagship Project BEST – Better Efficiency for Industrial Sewage Treatment – was completed at the end of September 2020. The flagship contributed to PA Nutri Action 2: Reduce nutrient emissions from urban areas and other point sources, and also implemented the horizontal aspect of cooperating with non-EU Member States by including water utility and industrial partners from Russia.
